Lathi-charge at Sandhya theatre: NHRC asks DGP, CP to submit ATR
Hyderabad: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has served a notice to the DGP and the Hyderabd police commissioner asking them to submit a detailed action taken report (ATR) on the stampede at Sandhya theatre in which a woman lost her life, within four weeks.
The notice comes in the wake of a complaint filed with the commission by advocate Rama Rao Immaneni.
The notice demands the ATR on the lathi-charge by “erring police officials” on the day of the stampede on December 4.
Apart from the woman who had died, two children, including her son, were injured after a huge crowd gathered to watch the promotional show of Pushpa 2. The situation worsened when the film’s lead actor Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre.
Police officials allegedly resorted to lathi-charge that led to the stampede.
