Let Kids Learn Leadership, Social Responsibility, Says Police Academy Director
People must change themselves first to bring about social change,” she said.

Nalgonda: Telangana Police Academy director Abhilasha Bisht on Saturday stressed the need to instil leadership qualities, social responsibility and problem-solving skills in children to build a better society.
She was addressing a “Children’s Parliament” organised at Cherla Gouraram in Nalgonda district by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Telangana Police (Women Safety Wing).
Speaking as the chief guest, the IPS officer said children’s rights and the shaping of their futures were of utmost importance. She said child protection should begin within the family and urged parents to devote time to their children and encourage their ideas.
“If children’s latent talent is nurtured and guided in the right direction, they can grow into leaders and experts in various fields and contribute to society. People must change themselves first to bring about social change,” she said.
She exhorted children to express their views courageously, recognise societal issues and participate in finding solutions. “Children are our future. Give them time, listen to their ideas and encourage their growth,” she said.
District collector Badugu Chandrashekhar said positive societal change could be achieved by developing qualities in children. He stressed the need to create social awareness among children along with education.
Superintendent of police Sarath Chandra Pawar said the district police were working to ensure children’s safety, education and mental well-being, and had been conducting awareness programmes on issues affecting children and their protection.
The programme aimed to create awareness on the democratic system among children at the village level, listen to their views and involve them as active participants in village development.
Students participating in the Children’s Parliament expressed their views on issues including school infrastructure, sanitation, drinking water, child safety, educational standards and village development.
ASP Ramesh, Nalgonda DSP Shivaram Reddy, district welfare officer Krishnaveni, district education officer Sushinder Rao and Child Welfare Committee chairman Krishnaiah were present.
