Locals attempt to encroach on Musi at Attapur

Hyderabad: A temporary path created by civic authorities is being gradually converted into a road by locals along the Musi near Attapur.

The water works department laid a temporary path to transport pipes and machinery for laying sewerage lines. But the motorists have converted it into a regular road as a short cut route to Bapu Ghat in Langar Houz from Attapur.

“Some people are thinking that this Kaccha road connecting to Bapu Ghat has been proposed by the government and it will be made into a permanent one which is not true,” said Amer Quadri, a local of Attapur.

The people living there also complained of increased encroachments, air and water pollution, mosquito menace and frequent garbage dumping.

“Some people from the Attapur main road dump garbage into this River. The offenders also include several commercial establishments,” said a senior citizen.

The plan is to convert this levelled path now being used as a kaccha road into a walkway along the Musi river. As this stretch is located right adjacent to the Musi river, we will also ensure the walkway does not affect the river flow,” said an official from MRDCL.

A municipal administration and urban development (MA&UD) department official also disclosed that people belonging to economically-weaker sections living in these dwelling units near Musi by encroaching it will be relocated to Indiramma Indlu.
