Bhongir: Locals on Friday stole made off with fuel from an overturned diesel tanker which overturned at Pedda Parvathapur of Bommalaramaram mandal, 36 km from the city.
As soon as news of the tanker overturning spread, people from nearby places rushed to the spot along with vans and buckets and stole the fuel from it.
Sources said they did not heed the driver’s warnings that the tanker could catch fire.
On learning of the incident, Bommalaramaram police went to the spot and dispersed people. Using a crane, the tanker was set back on its wheels.
