Lotta Pisu takes centre-stage in KTR’s Formula e-car case
Karimnagar: The term "Lotta Pisu" has emerged as a central theme in Telangana's political narrative, particularly in relation to the Formula e-car race case involving BRS party working president K.T. Rama Rao. The term, referencing the Ipomoea carnea tree, known locally as the "Rubber Tree" or "Salendra Tree," has become a metaphor in the ongoing controversy.
Rama Rao recently likened the case against him to the tree, pointing out its hollow interior branches, suggesting the accusations lack substance or evidence to stand scrutiny. “Much like Lotta Pisu, the case is hollow and cannot withstand legal examination,” Rama Rao remarked.
However, his critics disagree. Following unfavourable rulings from both the High Court and the Supreme Court, Vemulawada MLA and government chief whip Aadi Srinivas lambasted KTR, saying that the "Lotta Pisu case" would continue to haunt him. Srinivas questioned Rama Rao's dismissal of the case, highlighting that the ACB and ED investigations were started with the Governor's approval. He cited past actions by the BRS government, such as the dramatic arrest of Congress leader Revanth Reddy, to criticise the former minister’s stance.
The controversy extends beyond the Formula e-car race case, with investigations ongoing into other allegations, including the Medigadda project, phone tapping, and irregularities in sheep and fish-rearing schemes. Srinivas asserted that despite KTR’s legal efforts to halt inquiries, justice would prevail, promising accountability for any misuse of public funds.
Adding to the narrative, a botany professor speaking to Deccan Chronicle described the Lotta Pisu tree as remarkably resilient. Even if destroyed, it regenerates from any remaining part, symbolising persistence. Congress leaders have drawn parallels, arguing that the case, like the tree, will not be easily uprooted and will continue to challenge Rama Rao despite his efforts.
