Narendar Reddy Cong.’s Graduates MLC candidate

The Congress officially announced the name of Vootkuri Narendar Reddy, the chairman of Alphores Educational Institutions as its candidate for the Karimnagar, Medak Nizamabad and Adilabad Graduates MLC seat.

The announcement was made by the AICC general secretary K. V. Venugopal confirming that AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge has approved Narendar Reddy’s candidacy.

Despite the absence of party symbols in the MLC elections, candidates will contest with the support of political parties. Along with Narendar Reddy, other prominent leaders of the party from Karimnagar like Velichala Rajendar Rao and Prasanna Harikrishna also competed for a ticket.

The TPCC (Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee) had initially sent the name of sitting MLC T. Jeevan Reddy for the MLC seat. However, Jeevan Reddy conveyed to the AICC that he would not be contesting making the path clear for Narendar Reddy.

The AICC considered several candidates based on ground-level feedback and consulting with the party’s MLAs, MPs and in-charges of 42 Assembly constituencies in the region. After much deliberation, the AICC finalised on Narendar Reddy’s name.

A total of 3.47 lakh voters have registered themselves so far with more than half of these coming from the erstwhile Karimnagar district. Given the strong voter base in the district, the party believes that fielding a local candidate would significantly increase its chances of victory.

Apart from that Narendar Reddy enrolled the highest number of votes from graduates in the Graduates MLC constituency. Moreover, at various meetings, Narendar Reddy shared the stage with prominent Congress leaders, further solidifying his position.

Following his nomination, Narendar Reddy thanked several leaders of the party including top AICC leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Karimnagar district in-charge minister Uttal Kumar Reddy, ministers Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar.
