Maha people did not buy Congress false promises: Harish Rao
Karimnagar: In a vehement statement on Sunday in Huzurabad of Karimnagar district, former minister T. Harish Rao demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy be awarded a double PhD for widely publicising what Rao described as fake promises to the people of Telangana.
Rao alleged that the Congress tried to deceive the residents of Telangana and Karnataka by making false guarantees. He further claimed that similar deceptive tactics were employed to mislead the people of Maharashtra.
During the poll campaign in Maharashtra, Harish Rao stated that the Chief Minister and his ministers promised to provide ₹3,000 per month to women and to waive crop loans. However, he asserted that the people of Maharashtra, being aware of these false promises, responded appropriately to the Congress’ attempts to mislead them.
Rao criticised Revanth Reddy for taking an oath on 101 gods and making numerous promises. He urged the Congress to learn from its significant defeat in Maharashtra and to fulfil all its promises in Telangana.
Highlighting the Dalit Bandhu Scheme (DBS), Rao mentioned that BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao had sanctioned funds for 18,500 beneficiaries in Huzurabad. However, he accused the Congress of attacking BRS MLA Padi Koushik Reddy by involving the police instead of implementing the scheme and releasing the second phase of funds.
Rao questioned the effectiveness of Deputy Chief Minister and finance minister Bhatti Vikramarka, asking why justice was not being served to scheduled caste individuals and why the government had not sanctioned the second installment of the DBS funds.
Addressing the government's announcement on July 19, Rao pointed out that while the government stated it would establish a pharma city in Lagcherla, it is now retracting by claiming it referred to an industrial estate instead. He criticised the BRS leadership for blaming the party for the Kaleshwaram project while simultaneously promising to meet the drinking and irrigation needs of Hyderabad’s residents by supplying 20 TMCs of water from the Kondapochamma and Mallanna Sagar reservoirs, which are part of the Kaleshwaram project.
Rao condemned Congress leaders for their lack of clarity, accusing them of attempting to divert public attention with baseless statements. He called for the withdrawal of all illegal cases against BRS MLAs and party workers and urged the government to sanction the second installment of funds for the beneficiaries of the Dalit Bandhu Scheme.
