Mahabubabad: Telangana Forest officials seized around 30 kg of wild animal meat during raids conducted in Kakatiya Nagar, Bayyaram mandal headquarters, in Telangana on Monday.
As per reports, the forest department teams conducted surprise inspections in the area, based on a tip-off about the illegal sale of wild animal meat in the region. On spotting the officials, several smugglers fled the spot. During the search, officials detained one person who was selling the meat. The accused entered into an argument with the Forest Beat Officer, but officials brought the situation under control and launched an inquiry.
Officials said they recovered about 30 kg of wild animal meat and seized a two-wheeler used in the trade. A case has been registered under relevant forest laws. A manhunt is underway to nab the absconding suspects. Officials warned of strict action against hunting, sale, and transport of wild animals from the Garla Protected Forest at Bayyaram Range. They urged the public to cooperate in wildlife conservation and immediately report any suspicious activity to the forest department.
