Mahesh Kumar Goud Cautions Congress MLAs Ahead of Local Polls

Hyderabad:Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud cautioned that Congress MLAs and other leaders who fail to deliver improved results in the upcoming local bodies elections will not be considered for tickets in the next Assembly elections.

On Saturday, Goud chaired three district review meetings at Gandhi Bhavan, focusing on undivided Warangal, Karimnagar, and Nizamabad districts. The meetings were attended by key Congress figures, including AICC in-charge general secretary Deepa Das Munshi and AICC in-charge secretary Viswanathan.

The meetings brought together a range of Congress leaders, including MLAs, MPs, MLCs, DCC presidents, TPCC office bearers, corporation chairmen, state presidents of party affiliated organisations, and national leaders. Senior ministers and district in-charge ministers also took part, engaging in discussions about party strategies and the way forward.

Throughout the meetings, Goud stressed the need for party unity and accountability. " We must show the people that Congress is their best option," Goud said. He also cautioned party leaders and cadre against engaging in internal bickering. He issued strict instructions to both the party's old guard and new entrants to work in tandem.

These review meetings mark an assertive push by the newly appointed TPCC president to reinvigorate the party in Telangana ahead of crucial elections for local bodies..

In the Warangal district meeting, notable attendees included ministers Konda Surekha and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Chief Minister's adviser Vem Narender Reddy, and MP Dr Kadiam Kavya. Discussions centred on strengthening the party at the grassroots level and enhancing its outreach in the district.

The Karimnagar district meeting saw the participation of ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, D. Sridhar Babu and Ponnam Prabhakar, adviser Harkara Venugopal, and MP Vamsi Krishna. Leaders focused on preparations for the local body elections, analysing the party's performance in recent Assembly and Parliament elections, and crafting strategies to better connect with voters.

In the Nizamabad district meeting, In-charge minister Jupally Krishna Rao, government advisers Shabbir Ali and Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, former minister Sudarshan Reddy, and MP Suresh Shetkar discussed measures to improve the party's standing. The group discussed countering opposition propaganda and ensuring the effective communication of government schemes to the public.
