Mahesh Kumar Goud Likely To Be New TPCC Chief

Revanth meets Kharge and Rahul in Delhi

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, currently on a visit to Delhi, held discussions with the Congress top brass on Friday regarding the appointment of a new TPCC president. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy were present during the meetings.

Revanth Reddy had two crucial meetings on this issue. The first meeting was with AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Rahul Gandhi, which lasted over an hour. Later in the night, the Chief Minister met AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal.

According to party sources, on top of the agenda was the selection of a new TPCC president to replace Revanth Reddy, whose three-year tenure ended on July 7.

Sources indicate that the names of TPCC working president and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud figured prominently in the discussions.

It is understood that the party high command is leaning towards Mahesh Kumar Goud as Revanth Reddy’s successor. Although no official announcement has been made yet, party insiders suggest that the high command is likely to announce Mahesh Kumar Goud’s appointment as the new TPCC president.

There was no discussion on the pending Cabinet expansion, it is learnt. The issue of filling nominated posts in the government also did not come up for discussion.

Currently, there are six vacancies in Revanth Reddy’s cabinet. It is expected that the high command will address the other two pending issues after the appointment of the new TPCC chief.
