Malkajgiri DCP Expresses Concern Over Rising Murders Linked to Marital Affairs

Sridhar urged citizens facing marital or personal disputes to seek legal remedies, counselling or family intervention instead of resorting to violence.

Hyderabad: Expressing concern over the increasing number of murders linked to marital disputes, Malkajgiri DCP Ch. Sridhar cautioned citizens against indulging in criminal activities, particularly procuring weapons and resorting to murder over personal conflicts.

Addressing the issue, the DCP said a majority of recent murder cases being reported were rooted in marital affairs, including disputes arising out of relationships, extramarital issues and family conflicts. He said, “individuals were increasingly taking extreme steps, often assuming they could escape severe consequences. But they are forgetting that the legal process does not end with just a bail but will bear consequences too. Courts examine evidence and ultimately award punishment if the accused are found guilty.”

The officer warned that procuring weapons with the intention of harming or killing another person itself amounts to serious criminal activity and can attract stringent legal consequences. He said police have observed a worrying trend where accused persons meticulously plan attacks, believing they can evade punishment.

Sridhar urged citizens facing marital or personal disputes to seek legal remedies, counselling or family intervention instead of resorting to violence. He stressed that one impulsive act driven by anger or revenge could destroy multiple lives, including those of the accused and their families. The DCP also appealed to the public to immediately alert police if they come across suspicious activities involving illegal weapons or threats of violence.
