Hyderabad: A 19-year-old student of Malla Reddy University died of a heart stroke on the campus on Thursday, Pet Basheerabad circle inspector Vijayvardhan said.
The student, Arun Kumar from Nalgonda, was a first year BSc Agriculture student.
The police official said that Kumar fainted while writing an exam at about 2.30 pm. Students and staff administered administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation and university officials rushed him rushed to the Malla Reddy Hospital in Suraram, where he was declared dead.
Kumar’s family members and friends held a a dharna in front of the university, alleging negligence in providing him timely treatment. The police official said the university officials had taken Kumar to hospital in 25 minutes. The police did not register a case as no complaint was lodged.
