Hyderabad: The Secunderabad Sessions Court on Monday sentenced a 33-year-old man, K. Shiva, to life imprisonment for murdering a woman he was in an illicit relationship with. Judge S. Sreedevi also ordered Shiva to pay ₹5,000 in fine for the crime that was committed in 2013.
According to the police, Shiva and the victim Swapna were in a relationship for several years. Although she was later married off to another man, Rajesh, the accused and the victim continued their relationship. Shiva and Swapna later moved into a rented house in Hasmathpet, Bowenpally.
On December 23, 2013, a quarrel broke out between the two. The accused, under the influence of alcohol, poured kerosene on Swapna while she was asleep and set her on fire.
