Man held with over 1kg ganja in Alwal

Hyderabad: The special task force (STF) team of Excise and Enforcement seized 1.128 kilograms of ganja in Alwal and arrested one Aslam Khan who was involved in selling the narcotic. The operation was led by STF officials, including Nagaraj.

Car occupants beat up biker after ramming his vehicle

Hyderabad: A video of a man lying injured after being hit by a high end and being assaulted by the occupants of the vehicle was widely circulated on social media on Tuesday. The incident reportedly occurred within Gachibowli police station limits during the night.

According to available information, an unidentified motorist was heading towards Kondapur from Madhapur when the car, allegedly being driven in a rash and negligent manner, hit him from behind. There was a brief altercation between the motorist and the passengers of the car.

As the motorist fell on the road, a passenger in the car allegedly stepped out and started physically assaulting him. He also verbally abused him, while a group of people stood there vocally trying to stop the irate passenger. Meanwhile the act was being filmed.

The Gachibowli police said that they have not received any complaint about the issue. Besides, both the accused and the motorist remain unidentified.

Worker dies in slab collapse

Hyderabad: A construction worker lost his life while when a slab collapsed on him at a building site in Peerzadiguda.

The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old Raju from Warangal district. He was part of a team of centreing workers who had come to the site from Ramantapur. The team was entering the site when the slab fell on Raju.

Raju is survived by his wife and a child. No case was registered, the police said.

Techie held with MDMA crystals

Hyderabad: The Sangareddy excise police arrested 35-year-old software engineer Harjat Singh for smuggling 120 grams of MDMA crystals worth Rs.21.06 lakh. The accused, originally from Jammu and Kashmir, was caught during a search of his vehicle while transporting the drug from Pune to the city. Police said he was a drug consumer who turned smuggler to boost his income.

Man drives car into another vehicle to flee drinking test

Hyderabad: A driver attempting to evade a drunk driving checkpoint in Banjara Hills rammed into another vehicle, police said.

The complainant from Jubilee Hills was travelling with his family in a car when they encountered the traffic police conducting checks on Road No. 10. As traffic slowed down, another car, driven by an unidentified individual, suddenly reversed without warning.

The reversing driver crashed into complainant’s vehicle, damaging its front left side. The driver of the reversing car then jumped over the road divider onto the opposite side and escaped.

The Banjara Hills police booked a case and are currently investigating the matter. They are on the lookout for the driver, described as a lean male, aged between 30 to 35 years.

Two held for burgling gold from house

Hyderabad: The Gudimalkapur police on Tuesday apprehended two persons for burglary. The incident came to light after Uppari Krishna, a resident of Bojagutta, on January 16 complained about missing gold and silver from his almirah.

On January 13, the complainant had gone to Narayanpet along with his family to celebrate Sankranti. Upon fter returning on January 16, he found gold and silver missing.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Eriki Pavan, 28, a labourer, and Syed Azeem, 21, a delivery partner.

Pavan was previously involved in two criminal cases, both registered in the same police station. With regard to these cases, he had also served a jail term. After his release, he along with his associate committed this offence. During interrogation, both the accused confessed to the crime and that they spent `1,13,000 in Goa.

Apart from 42 grams of gold and 756 grams of silver, net cash worth `87,000 was recovered from their possession. The accused were remanded to judicial custody on Tuesday.

17-year-old girl dies by suicide

Hyderabad: A 17-year-old girl died allegedly by suicide early on Tuesday morning. Her body was found at the Kacheguda railway station, said Government Railway Police (GRP) inspector Yellappa.

The girl hailing from Siddipet and was residing in the Andhra Mahila Sabha hostel, located in the Osmania University campus. The incident occurred between 7.30 am and 7.45 am. The incident came to light after a passenger spotted a body on the railway tracks and alerted the GRP.

The reason behind her taking an extreme step is yet to be known. Her body was shifted to the Osmania mortuary for postmortem examination.

For now, a case of death under suspicious circumstances has been registered. Sections would be altered based on further investigation, the inspector said.

Truck hits car from rear, one hurt

Hyderabad: One person was injured in Shamshabad on Tuesday morning when a truck hit his car from behind. The car lost control and hit the median. Police said the driver of the truck was trapped in the cabin.

A passerby called the police who reached the spot, rescued the driver and took the injured to a hospital. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
