Man kills elder brother by electrocution in Medak

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old Tejavath Gopal killed his elder brother Tejavath Shankar (28) by electrocution when he was asleep at his house at Nanu thanda in Shivvampet mandal of Medak district on Friday night.

The Shivvampet police said Gopal allegedly developed an illicit affair with Shankar’s wife. As Shankar became an obstacle in the illicit relationship, Gopal decided to eliminate him. According to his plan, Gopal took a live wire and connected it to a switch board.

When Shankar was asleep, Gopal tangled the electrical wire to Shankar’s hand and leg and switched on the power supply. On hearing Shankar’s screams, his father Tejavath Chander came to his rescue and disconnected power supply to the switch before removing the lives only to find that Shankar was dead. Fearing that the family members would attack him, Gopal fled the village.

Based on a complaint lodged by Chander, the police booked a murder case against Gopal under Section 103 (1) of BNS and took up the investigation. The police said both Shankar and Gopal were working as labourers.

Police inquiries revealed that Shankar’s first wife deserted him five years ago and he later married her relative with whom Gopal developed an illicit affair.
