Man Kills Stray Dog in Self defense in Moinabad, Held

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly beating and strangling a dog to death and dumping the body in an open place in Aziznagar of Moinabad. Police said the dog had earlier bitten the accused, Raju, a labouruer, and his son, and used to chase him whenever he left home.

Police said Raju managed to catch the dog and tied it to a pole. A video of the incident, filmed by locals, showed Raju beating the dog. He then strangled it to death.

An Aziznagar resident, Kranthi, shared the video with an animal rights activist who lodged a complaint with the Moinabad police. The police booked a case against Raju under the BNS and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and arrested him. Moinabad sub-inspector R. Kishan Singh said as it was a bailable offence; Raju was granted bail at the police station and released.

Singh said the dog’s body was handed over to the animal rights activist after conducting a post-mortem with the help of a veterinary doctor.
