Man Loses ₹3.17 Lakh in Currency Note Scam

Hyderabad:A 35-year-old private employee from Secunderabad was duped of `3.17 lakh by cyber fraudsters through an online currency note scam. When the victim was browsing the internet, he saw an advertisement seeking `500 and `200 notes with the digits 786.

Showing his interest, the victim contacted the number shown in the advertisement. The fraudster on the other end promised to pay a large sum for the notes with the fancy numbers. The victim was asked to share a copy of his Aadhaar card and was asked to pay transaction charges. Following the scammer’s instructions, thinking that the charges he was paying would be returned, the victim transferred `3,17,772.

It was only after the payment, the victim realised that he had been cheated. He immediately complained to the Hyderabad cybercrime police.
