Adilabad: The demolition of illegal structures by the civic body has boiled down to a fight between the BRS and Congress leaders in Mancherial district. The Congress leaders opine the municipal authorities are demolishing only illegal structures while the BRS leaders allege the authorities are targeting the buildings that are owned by BRS leaders only.
Former MLA Diwakar Rao of Mancherial alleged MLA K. Premsagar Rao gives instructions to the civic authorities as far as demolitions are concerned.
Leaders of both parties engaged in a verbal fight with Naspur municipal authorities demolishing a five-storey building that was constructed illegally on government land in survey number 42 while taking permission for the construction on survey number 40 on September 19.
The owner of the building was Dheekonda Annaiah, a leader of Telangana Boggugani Karmika Sangam affiliated to BRS.
Premsagar Rao said revenue officials issued notices to the building owner in 2022 when BRS government was in power but no action was taken then. Now former MLA Diwakar Rao spreads false information about the incident and people will not believe it. He made it clear that municipal authorities demolished the building since it was an illegal structure.
He alleged that some BRS councillors took money from youths promising them jobs in the civic body and the victims lodged complaints with police when they did not get jobs as promised and Diwakar Rao staged protests in support of those councillors.
Premsagar Rao said he will not support people who indulge in illegal work and added that they have to make hard decisions for the benefit of people like free flow of traffic in Mancherial town.
The Mandamarri municipal authorities removed encroachments on drainages in Mancherial town and the officials gave three days to the house owners to remove the encroachments.
Naspur municipal commissioner Satish said they have identified more illegal structures and will demolish them soon. He added that a five-storey building that was demolished was an illegal structure. He said the owner of the building did not respond to the notices they served from 2022. They issued fresh notices 15 days ago before demolishing the illegal building, he added.
