Manikonda Municipality Issues Notices Over Housing Violations

Hyderabad: The Manikonda Municipality issued notices to the president of Telugu Cine Workers Co-operative Housing Society Ltd to submit an explanation for constructing 225 row houses / villas in Manikonda’s Chitrapuri Colony. The constructions were in violation of norms, the municipality said

The violations include additional built-up area and raising of sheds. “The society gave a representation to the urban local body (ULB) that the built up area of 1,530 sft for each structure as mentioned earlier is not sufficient and they need to revise it to 2,250 sft, but this revised built-up area was not approved,” said an official from the Manikonda municipality.

The municipality directed the society president to submit the approval copy of the existing built-up area of the row houses, and also ordered them to remove within 15 days the additional constructions. The municipality also directed the society not to proceed with further construction of houses.

The notice said that in default, action would be taken up to demolish the unauthorised constructions, and the matter may be referred to the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA).

The notice said that the municipal officials have inspected the site at Chitrapuri Colony based on a complaint filed by O. Kalyan, which claimed that the society has erected 225 row houses in violation of norms.

On August 25, the town planning authorities demolished seven unauthorised villas in the colony which were illegally constructed.
