Maoist Leader From Nalgonda Killed in Joint Operation Near Odisha-Chhattisgarh Border

Nalgonda: One of the Maoists killed in a joint operation by Odisha and Chhattisgarh police and CRPF personnel in Gariaband district on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border on Monday was from Nalgonda district.
Paka Hanumanthu, 59, a native of Pullemla of Chandur mandal, joined the Naxal group 45 years ago and was leading an underground life.
A central committee member of the banned CPI(Maoist), Hanumanthu was known by different names like Ganesh, Chamru Dada, Rajesh Tiwar and carried a bounty of Rs 7 lakh on his head.
Hanumanthu led the attack on Congress leaders where 24 people were killed and 34 injured n Jhiram Ghati of Darbha Valley in Sukma in May 2013. He participated in several destructive operations carried out by the CPI (Maoists).
He was one of the accused in the murder of ABVP leader Achuri Srinivas on March 30, 1981. Hanumathu was an active member of Radical Students Union (RSU) then. His family no longer lives at Pullamla.
