Markodu Gram Panchayat Special Officer held in Rs.15,000 bribe case

Hyderabad: Bhadradri-Kothagudem Marokodu Gram Panchayat Special Officer B Srinivas was arrested by Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from a complainant.

At 11.30 am on Tuesday, the ACB caught Srinivas red handed at the Mandal Panchayat Office (MPO) in Allapalli in the district when he demanded bribe from the complainant Kurra Kamala, a former vice-president of Markodu Grama Panchayat for sanctioning of pending amount in respect of works executed by her husband Kurra Yellagoud in 2019 and 2024

The bribe was also taken for the assignment of a new contract work in his favor. Earlier, on the instructions of Srinivas, Thati Nagaraju, a Gram Panchayat Secretary of Markodu, demanded the bribe of Rs. 15,000 from the complainant.

The bribe amount was recovered from the possession of Srinivas and his both hand fingers and the back side pocket of his trouser yielded a positive result in the chemical test. The ACB officials produced Srinivas and Nagaraju before the special court for ACB cases in Warangal district after which the court remanded them to judicial custody.
