Hyderabad:Medak BJP MP M. Raghunandan Rao questioned why the previous BRS government, where K.T. Rama Rao was a minister, did not transfer Kancha Gachibowli and other university land to the University of Hyderabad (UoH) during its tenure. Calling for a social boycott of Rama Rao, T. Harish Rao and K. Kavitha, the MP accused them of feigning concern over the issue for political mileage.
Speaking informally with reporters, Raghunandan Rao criticised the BRS leaders for shedding “crocodile tears” over the UoH land issue. He alleged that the BRS government had access to a 2012 letter from the erstwhile district collector to the chief commissioner of land administration (CCLA), which could have facilitated the transfer of land to the university. However, the government had deliberately avoided acting on it, he alleged.
Raghunandan Rao said he had collected documents related to the Kancha Gachibowli lands and submitted them to the Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC). “The CEC members asked me if I was willing to argue the matter before the Supreme Court if summoned. I gave my consent,” he informed. He also pointed out that the panchanama conducted during the BRS regime clearly recorded the lands as belonging to UoH.
