Medak MP Praises Finance Bill for Tax Transparency, Criticizes State Govt

Hyderabad: Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao lauded the Finance Bill saying that the government had brought in transparency in the income-tax and other sections of the administration and this has resulted in an increase in the number of taxpayers.

Speaking in the Parliament, he said, “It has become common practice for present and past Telangana governments to take credit for positive developments while distancing themselves from failures. The CAG report confirmed that the State government spent lakhs of crores of funds without properly accounting for the expenditure. The Centre is sharing 42 per cent of funds with the state governments.”

He further said the BRS government did not construct the double-bedroom houses despite the Centre giving funds under the PM Awas Yojana scheme and the Congress government was following the same path and misleading people in the name of Indiramma houses.

Talking about the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the MP said, “Despite claiming that the GST is the brainchild of Sonia Gandhi, the Congress-led government could never implement it and it was Narendra Modi who implemented it. Its implementation has increased revenue to 2 lakh crore. The Telangana government is doing statical jugglery after having received `48,000 crore.”

The MP was all praise for the Budget presented by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman and said this Budget could be understood by only those who have empathy for the aspirations of the poor. The Telangana CM and his colleagues do not have the capacity to understand.
