Medak: Tension gripped Medak town on Saturday after violent clashes between two groups. The conflict between the groups (of different communities), erupted after a truck was intercepted by one, suspecting cattle transportation for slaughter.
The clashes, which began on Saturday afternoon, carried on until the evening. Violent mobs that rallied on the roads of the town resorted to vandalism before the police brought the situation under control.
Several people from both the groups were injured in the violent clashes. According to reports, the injured are being treated at a hospital in Hyderabad.
Besides, beefing up security, the police also took other measures on Saturday to maintain law and order situation in the region. According to reports, the police arrested several people, including the BJP district president of Medak, for their involvement in the clashes on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Union Minister (Mos) Bandi Sanjay took stock of the situation on Sunday. He spoke to the District police officials over phone and urged them to take strict action against those disturbing peace, while also advising them not to book false cases against the innocent. Bandi asked the police to be unbiased in their investigation.
