Mentally challenged woman gang-raped in Miyapur

Hyderabad: Miyapur police registered a case against two persons for alleged gang-rape of a mentally challenged woman near the Miyapur junction on Friday afternoon.

According to Miyapur ACP, Ch. Y. Srinivas Kumar, the two saw the woman walking around the bus stop. After luring her to go with them, they took her to an isolated place near the Miyapur junction on a bike and gang-raped her. Some people saw the accused taking the victim to an isolated place. CCTV cameras have also captured their movement.

When an autorickshaw driver spotted her at the crime scene, he dialled 100 and the police reached the spot. After shifting the victim to a hospital and conducting a medical examination, the assault was confirmed.

“We are struggling to identify her as she is mentally challenged. She is for most part unaware of the series of events that have taken place against her,” the ACP said.

An official from the Cyberabad police said that the two accused have been arrested, although it has not been officially confirmed.

A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
