Aerobridge’s Metal Panel Falls, NRI Suffers Head Injury
Doctors advised the passenger to wear a neck brace and prescribed painkillers for the neck and head aches

Hyderabad: A 63-year-old US citizen, Deepak Adoni, was injured at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad after a metal panel from an aerobridge ceiling allegedly fell on him while he was deplaning from a Pune flight on Sunday, raising concerns over infrastructure maintenance.
Airport authorities said it was an “isolated instance” and said safety inspections of all aerobridges have been initiated. The airport had also faced criticism earlier in August 2024 after parts of the roof were reported to be leaking during heavy rains, prompting concerns on social media.
Adoni, who had arrived on an Air India Express flight, sustained a head injury in the incident, and was shifted to a corporate hospital for treatment.
Doctors conducted a CT scan and MRI. Hospital authorities said he did not suffer major injuries and was discharged after examination. According to sources, the passenger reportedly has internal injuries and is considering legal action against the airport.
Responding to the incident, air passengers expressed dissatisfaction over the airport’s maintenance, stating that such incidents reflect poorly on Indian aviation infrastructure.
