Metpally Police Bust Cyber Gang, Arrest 3
Karimnagar: The Metpally police on Thursday nabbed three men who were involved in several cyber frauds and looted crores of rupees from people through fake trading apps in Jagtial district.
The police seized 15 passbooks from various banks, 10 chequebooks, 20 credit and debit cards, three mobile phones, two laptops, and 14 SIM cards from their possession.
Superintendent of police Ashok Kumar said the accused were identified as Sumesh Kapoor, 36, and Arjun Chouhan, 36, both natives of Punjab; Rajeev Singh, 36, and Jithendar Kumar, 37, both natives of Himachal Pradesh; and Raj, who resides in a foreign country.
When Rajeev and Jithendar went to Punjab to work in a poultry farm, they were introduced to Sumesh, who worked as a broker for various banks. As the three searched for methods to earn easy money, they connected with Arjun, who worked at Union Bank.
Under Arjun’s direction, the three engaged in cyber crimes and began extorting money from innocent people under the guise of fake businesses and investments.
Following complaints from victims, the police deployed special teams under the supervision of Metpally DSP Ramulu. Utilizing advanced technologies, they traced the culprits and arrested Sumesh, Rajeev, and Jithendar in Punjab. The police have initiated a manhunt to apprehend Arjun, who is currently absconding, and Raj, who is in a foreign country, Kumar added.
