Metro Expansion Our Idea: BRS

Hyderabad: The decision of the state government to extend Hyderabad Metro Rail to Medchal and Shamirpet was dismissed as old wine in a new bottle by the Opposition BRS leaders who said their party when in the government, had proposed just the same. Speaking at a press meet on Thursday, BRS MLAs K.P. Vivekanand Goud, Marri Rajasekhar Reddy and former MLA Balka Suman said the proposal to extend the Metro Rail in its third phase to Medchal and Shamirpet was taken before the Assembly elections.

“Just as several decisions taken by the BRS government were cancelled or withheld by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, this proposal, for which the BRS government had selected consultants too, was set aside. Now he has again revived it. There is nothing new in what Revanth Reddy said he is doing,” Vivekanand averred. He also said, “The reported statements of the Chief Minister that he is now a changed man, means that he is finally admitting to all his mistakes in the last year.”

Meanwhile, the BRS is gearing up to hold a ‘BC Maha Dharna’ on Friday at Indira Park, which will be led by MLC K. Kavitha. The party is demanding that the state government implement the 42 per cent reservations for BCs in local bodies, which it promised during the election campaigns. The party said it would oppose the local body elections if they are held without implementing the BC reservations.
