Milad-un-Nabi to be a low-key affair in Hyderabad on Monday

They have called upon the people not to take out any processions in order to avoid untoward incidents as the 11-day Ganesh festivities are underway and the immersion is slated for the next day

HYDERABAD: It will be a low-key Milad-un-Nabi (which falls on Monday) this year as religious leaders have urged the faithful to keep the celebrations restricted to their respective homes and mosques. They have called upon the people not to take out any processions in order to avoid untoward incidents as the 11-day Ganesh festivities are underway and the immersion is slated for the next day.

Meanwhile, next year’s Milad-un-Nabi celebrations will be a grandiose one as 2025 marks 1500 birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad. The community leaders have called for befitting year-long celebrations.

Mohd. Mushtaq Mallik, president Tahreek Muslim Shabban, said, “This year because of Ganesh immersion processions, Muslims have postponed Milad celebrations. Prophet Mohammad has preached about peace. On that day, we serve food, help poor people and pray.”

M.S. Farooq, general secretary of All India Muslim Education Society, said “Milad-un-Nabi is quite significant for Muslims all over the world. In keeping with the Prophet’s message of peace, love, and compassion, the day is an opportunity for spiritual reflection and community service. It is a time for unity and forgiveness. I appeal to all the faithful to have low-key celebrations this year.”
