Minister scotches rumours on temple cows to her aides
Karimnagar: Endowment minister Konda Surekha on Saturday condemned the allegations on illegal distribution of Rajanna Kodes (cows) of Vemulawada temple, saying miscreants are spreading such lies to malign the Congress government.
Since there were around 1.500 cows and oxen donated by devotees to Vemulawada temple and shortage of sheds, the state government decided to distribute them freely to the poor and eligible farmers who can look after them.
The government also sanctioned funds for the construction of extra sheds. Six months back, a committee was formed with the district collector as its chairman and temple EO as its convenor to frame guidelines along with issuing a G.O.
As per the guidelines, cows will be distributed to poor farmers as per their pattadar passbooks, Aadhaar cards, phone numbers along with an approval letter from the local agriculture officer. Each farmer will get either one or two cows from the Vemulawada Goshala.
Usually, applications received by a minister are sent to concerned authorities suggesting them to examine them. The Vemulawada temple authorities distributed the cows following the norms.
The cows and oxen distributed by the temple will have tags which are impossible to remove. Stringent actions will be taken against miscreants for spreading such lies, she added.
