Hyderabad: Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy here on Wednesday sought to know the reasons behind the absence of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) for not attending the Assembly session.
Interacting with media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, he said Komatireddy Venkat Reddy was synonymous for ethics and honesty. Referring to the remarks made by the BRS working president K T Rama Rao (KTR), he said the latter has no moral right to criticize him.
“Like KTR, who is facing criminal cases including one related to the Formula E Race case, I am not facing any cases,” he said, recalling he sacrificed his portfolio as a Minister during Congress tenure in united Andhra Pradesh in support of the separate Telangana movement.
He sought to know reasons behind the absence of KCR for not attending the Assembly session as Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Assembly in spite of having 30 party MLAs. “Will KCR attend the Assembly? Will he quit and hand over the LoP’s post to KTR or BRS MLA T Harish Rao?” he asked.
He added that he would respond only when KTR or Harish Rao becomes LoP.
“KTR is only an MLA and he is not the deputy LoP and I don’t need to respond to him. He became an MLA with the blessings of his father only,” he said. Venkat Reddy further stated that the Congress government has taken up the Musi River Rejuvenation Project as the BRS government failed to cleanse the river.
“When we are planning to implement the project, the BRS is causing obstructions as Musi is more dangerous than Yamuna River,” he said. The Minister reminded that the BJP promised to cleanse Yamuna River after returning to power during the elections.
When the Congress government in Telangana was planning to clean Musi River, Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar were opposing it. “Why is this dual standard on the part of BJP Ministers?” he asked.
Venkat Reddy said that the BRS got zero seats in the Lok Sabha elections and of the 16 Parliament constituencies the BRS lost deposit in seven seats.
