Mission Parivarthana: TG plans programmes to sensitise youth against drug abuse

ADILABAD: The state government would take up various programmes to create awareness among the youth and schoolchildren in educational institutions, villages and towns as part of the Mission Parivarthana on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and illicit trafficking on June 26.


The theme for this year is ‘Evidence is clear: invest in prevention’.

The state government has asked officials concerned to conduct essay and painting competitions for students of schools and colleges, on drug abuse and ill effects and illicit trafficking.

District collectors would organise rallies in villages and towns against drug abuse and illicit trafficking tomorrow, involving youths and students.

Students are advised not to eat ‘chocolates’ offered by unknown persons and those from their peer groups as Ganja chocolates are available in some places.

The state government took a serious note of the recent crime incidents involving those who are addicted to ganja and started to a crackdown on its illicit sales outlets.

The police are keeping a close watch on those consuming ganja and sellers and tracking the movement of drug addicts in colonies.


Komaram Bheem Asifabad district collector Venkatesh Dhotre said a programme against drug abuse and illicit trafficking would be held on the international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking on June 16.

The police department aims to ensure safety of the children, school students etc. Efforts are being made to ensure safety measures are in place at the workplace for women labourers.

The ‘She’ teams were asked to be on alert to provide security and safety for the women and girls in their jurisdiction.
