Mixed Response for Jaya Jayahe Telangana Anthem
Hyderabad: The official state song “Jaya Jaya He Telangana” was released by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Sunday at the Telangana Decennial Celebrations at Parade Grounds. The song is penned by renowned Telangana poet Ande Sri, and is composed by Oscar Award winner M.M. Keeravani.
The Chief Minister, along with ministers, officials and participants stood up in honour as the song was played.
The song has two versions, a full 13:30 minutes version and a smaller 02:30 seconds version. To facilitate government events and important occasions, the shorter version with three stanzas will be used.
Both Ande Sri and Keeravani were also present at the ceremony. The poet, who had written the song 20 years ago, turned emotional upon the launch of the song.
But the song received mixed responses from the public. Many expressed profound happiness after hearing the song. A user on X wrote “It's an emotional moment to Ande Sri garu...I read about him & his song in Telangana history book....finally Revanth Reddy recognised him.”
“Ande Sri wrote the song 20 years ago, in accordance with the Telangana movement. He wrote the newer version of that song in respect to the current perseverance and prosperity of Telangana. This change is needed, and it is well-suited”, another user posted a comment on YouTube.
But the song also received poor responses from many people. A user wrote on X “The present song was composed in a cinematic way, which won't appease the masses who participated in the Telangana movement.”
A user on Reddit wrote, “ It kind of feels like a movie song. Doesn't really have anything about the Telangana struggle either, which I was expecting”, to which another redditor replied “It has a Baahubali song vibe.”
The state government will formally felicitate Ande Sri and Keeravani at Tank Bund in the evening during the cultural carnival.
