Hyderabad:The Pahadi Shareef police investigating the charge of attempt to murder a reporter, slapped against veteran actor Mohan Babu, were instructed to identify the murder weapon and seize it for further examination.
A source said, “We recorded the victim's statement after obtaining legal advice. The teams were also asked to identify the weapon used to attack the reporter.”
Three cases have been registered with the Pahadi Shareef police, Manchu Manoj’s complaint against unidentified persons who entered the premises and threatened his wife, leading to an altercation; Mohan Babu fearing his safety, valuables, and property; and the third is a complaint by the reporter, who suffered injuries.
Meanwhile, police teams are also working on the role of Vijay Reddy and Kiran mentioned as suspects by Manoj. Both parties have been asked to come to the police station for questioning.
Rachakonda commissioner G. Sudheer Babu clarified that every commissioner has the authority to act as an additional district magistrate and work towards restoring peace during such disturbances.
Meanwhile, Mohan Babu was discharged from a hospital and released an audio message in which he expressed regret for his actions and called for consideration of the fairness of the one-sided portrayal, as well as the legality of breaking into someone's house.
Mohan Babu wondered: “Is it right for others to intervene in family matters without consent? For the past four days, the media has been stationed outside my house, including live vans. Why did they come to my house without permission? Are they truly media personnel or people with a personal grudge holding microphones?”
On the journalist who was attacked, the actor said “He is like a brother to me. I can feel the pain his wife and children must be going through. I seek fairness and justice.”
