Rat feces, live Cockroach, expired products at Monginis Alwal

Hyderabad: A inspection conducted by the Task Force team in Alwal on December 3, 2024, revealed several serious violations at Monginis Cake Shop located in Machha Bollaram, Alwal.

The inspection uncovered that the shop failed to display the required FSSAI license at a prominent location, which is a mandatory food safety regulation. Storage conditions were found to be inadequate, with packing materials and other products improperly stored on the ground and steps, increasing the risk of contamination. Additionally, mould vessels used in cake preparation were discovered in an unhygienic condition, posing a significant threat to food safety.
The premises also had rat feces observed in several areas of the storage, and live cockroach infestations were found throughout the manufacturing unit, indicating poor pest control measures. The cold room's air conditioning unit was leaking, which could potentially contaminate the food products stored in the room. Furthermore, employee health records and FoSTaC certificates were missing, which are required under food safety regulations.
The inspection also found several expired products, including Kesar Syrup (Sep 2024), Butter (June 2024), and flavor compounds that had long passed their expiration dates. Infrastructure conditions were also poor, with walls and ceilings showing signs of deterioration and flaking particles. Refrigerators were maintained in an unhygienic condition, with food waste littering the interior. Several food items were stored in unhygienic plastic drums, further raising concerns.
It was noted that the shop had not obtained the necessary licenses for seven chiller vehicles used for transporting goods.
