More than 15 lakh people attend kite festival in Secunderabad
Hyderabad: More than 15 lakh local visitors and a large number of kite enthusiasts witnessed the international kite and sweet festival-2025 organized by Telangana government from January 13 to 15 at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad.
It was an exciting three-day festival celebrated with fun and fervor which coincided with Sankranti festival, that brought together regional arts, crafts, cuisine and an array of national and international kites.
The festival was a unique opportunity, passion and artistry of international and national kite flyers coming together to celebrate a shared love of the ancient tradition. A special night kite flying was organised for all the three days which was a special attraction for the event.
The kite festival had participation from 19 countries such as Indonesia, Sweden, Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Italy, Tunisia, South Africa, Poland, Singapore, Ukraine and France having 47 international and 150 national kite flyers from 13 States.
Various cultural programmes depicting Telangana traditional culture like Perini, Oggn Dollu, Dapulu etc., were organized for promoting the local culture of the State and cultural performances by the other States which shows the integrity of the country.
Around 100 handloom and handicraft stalls and 60 food courts with Telangana and other cuisines have been showcased. Apart from the kite festival, a sweet festival was organized by Cultural Language Indian Connections (CLIC), with 1,200 varieties of delectable sweets prepared by the residents of Hyderabad and other States depicting national integration and also displayed during the festival with their traditional attire.
The whole ground has been filled with huge kites such as leopard, chimpanzee, eagle, tiger fish, snake, teddy bear, robot, sunflower, doraemon etc., and skies are filled with their vibrant tapestry of colourful kites. The wind was constant like sea breeze and the international kite flyers were enthusiastic and energetic to fly their kites.
