Mother Dies, Daughters in Shock Live With Corpse for 8 Days
Hyderabad Police Investigate Suspicious Death as Body Is Sent for Postmortem

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, two daughters were said to have been living with their mother’s dead body for eight days. The police said the body was not decomposed and the neighbours also did not notice the death.
This incident came to light on Friday after one of the daughters came out of their house and started asking the locals for money for the final rites of her mother. The Hyderabad police shifted the body to the mortuary for postmortem.
Warasiguda inspector R. Saidulu said that 45-year-old Cheemala Lalitha was living in a rented house along with her two daughters Ch. Ravali, 25, and Ch. Yashvanika, 22. Lalitha separated from her husband Raju in 2020. Ravali was working at a clothing store and Yashvanika used to work at an event management company.
On January 22, the family members had dinner around 9.30 pm and went to sleep in their rented house on the third floor of a building at Warasiguda. On the morning of January 23, Yashvanika got up early and tried to wake up her mother.
The mother did not respond. "Upon realising that their mother had died, two daughters went into shocked. They lived with the mother's body for eight days," the Warasiguda inspector said.
On Friday afternoon, Yashvanika came out from the residence and started asking for money from the locals for final rites. The locals suggested they inform the police. On receiving information, the Warasiguda police visited the place and found Lalitha’s body. Police booked a case of death under suspicious circumstances.
Lalitha’s body has been sent to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for the postmortem examination at 10 am on Saturday. The body will be later released to the family. Police also informed Lalitha’s family members of the incident.
