Hyderabad:A woman was killed and her 12-year-old son was fighting for life late on Wednesday night, after a stampede at a theatre in Chikkadpally where the film Pushpa 2 was being screened.
Police personnel present at the theatre and bystanders performed CPR on the victim, Revati, 39, of Dilsukhnagar, and her nine-year-old son Sri Teja till they could be sent in an ambulance to a hospital nearby. Teja is stated to be in a serious condition and was shifted to a super specialities hospital late at night.
Revathi and Sri Teja had come to the theatre along with her husband Bhaskar and her younger child.
The incident occurred at around 10.30 pm at Sandhya theatre at RTC crossroads, when the victim was leaving the theatre with her family. There was information that some stars had arrived at the theatre, causing fans to rush inside while pushing aside those who were leaving.
Revathi's body was shifted from to the Gandhi Hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
