Mourning and Forgiveness for Manipur Events Held Nationwide
Hyderabad: In solidarity and hope for peace in Manipur, ‘Mourning and Forgiveness for Manipur’ events were organised in the city and several other places across the country. People conducted multi-faith prayers and meditation sessions, sang peace songs, exhibited paintings and appealed for normalcy in the violence-ridden state.
According to a statement, in Imphal, the capital of Manipur, over a hundred people representing Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism and spiritual groups like Iskcon, Sanamahi, Divine Life Society and Brahmakumaris gathered to pray for the people who lost their lives in the conflict in Manipur and expressed concern for the pain and sufferings of the survivors.
The interfaith gathering launched the Manipur Peace Fund, with one rupee a day donation, dedicated to educating the younger generation in peacebuilding and conflict resolution.
Similar events were organised in Madurai (Tamil Nadu), Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Ranipur, Sheopur, Sihora and Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), Khordha (Odisha), Tinsukia and Dhubri (Assam), Bahraich (Uttar Pradesh), New Delhi and elsewhere.
