Harish was a native of Regonda mandal in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district and belonged to the 2020 batch. After starting as a trainee SI in Wazedu mandal, he was posted as SI in Peruru mandal. He was serving as SI in Wazedu mandal for the last six months.
According to sources, after Sunday’s Chalpaka encounter, in which seven Maoists were killed, Harish, and his team, was busy checking vehicles to nab those who may have escaped from the spot.
Right from the time Maoists killed two Adivasi brothers in Wazedu mandal last week, Harish was under work pressure.
His niece visited the Wazedu police station on Sunday to meet him and Harish asked the staff to drop her at the resort. He went there at night.
Around 6 am on Monday, Harish called his driver and asked him to pick him up.
It is learnt that Harish’s marriage was arranged with a girl from Warangal city, and their engagement was scheduled for December 14. However, he was in love with his niece. Both had an argument in the resort till the early hours of Monday. He is believed to have died by suicide afterwards, sources said.
After receiving information about the SI’s death from the resort staff, Venkatapuram circle inspector Kumar along with other police personnel rushed to the resort and shifted the body to Mulugu government hospital for postmortem.
Speaking to media persons later, Kumar said that Harish’s death was for personal reasons and not because of any work pressure. Police registered a case and took the SI’s niece into custody.
