Musheerabad: One killed after concrete mixer truck rams other vehicles

HYDERABAD: A 27-year-old DCM driver died on the spot while another person suffered grievous injuries after a speeding fully-loaded ready mix vehicle driver lost control and rammed into them at Musheerabad crossroads around 3 am here Monday.

Four parked vehicles, including one belonging to police patrol Rakshak, were also damaged.

The deceased Mohammed Abdullah and the DCM vehicle owner M. Vara Prasad, 38, were busy fixing a puncture.

“I heard a thud sound and jumped on the other side, but Abdullah was crushed between two DCM vans and died on the spot,” Vara Prasad, who suffered grievous injuries and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital, said.

V. Gnaneshwar, SI Chikkadpally police station and the investigation officer (IO) told Deccan Chronicle that the truck was at a high speed when it rammed into two trolleys and hit a police vehicle parked on the roadside.

According to Chilkalguda police, Abdullah, a Bihar native residing at Bandamaiolaram in Mulugu district, called Vara Prasad around 2.10 am and informed that the rear tyre of the DCM (TS 12 UD 4348) was punctured and asked him to get a spare.

Prasad rushed in another DCM (TS12-1506) without taking a jack, which they procured from a known person near Gandhi hospital. It was when the two were busy with fixing a tyre that the truck hit them from behind.

The speeding vehicle’s driver Mohammed Yusuf was heading towards a site in Musheerabad, said B. Anudeep, SHO Chilkalguda.

Yousuf was arrested and subject to a breathalyser where he tested negative. He told the police that he was very tired and had closed his eyes.

“We shifted the victim's body to Gandhi Hospital mortuary and booked cases against Yousuf for causing death due to negligent driving under sections 106 and 281 of BNS and seized the vehicle, Anudeep said.
