Musi Displaced to Get 2BHKs Soon

15k houses allotted for Musi displaced

Hyderabad:The state government has initiated the rehabilitation process for 2,166 families living in houses on the Musi riverbed. The revenue department officials have started inspecting the water body flowing through Attapur. However, no eviction notices were served on the households that were visited. There are 15,000 structures on the riverbed and buffer zone of Musi in the GHMC area. Out of the 2,166 households, most of them are located in Hyderabad district (1,595), followed by Rangareddy (332) and Medchal-Malkajgiri (239).

According to government reports, all the 15,000 families will get new 2BHK houses. To this effect, on Monday, the roads and buildings department issued a GO earmarking and allotting 15,000 2BHK houses in the GHMC area for these families on humanitarian grounds.

To execute the task, the revenue department has formed 16 teams, which will soon visit the households and each team will visit 75 units to collect the details. Each team consists of a tehsildar, revenue inspector (RI), surveyor, a GHMC official, police and office subordinates. The teams will collect the Aadhar, age, caste and other details of the owner/tenant of the houses will be collected. “If the person whose name will be put on the list of 2BHK beneficiaries is physically challenged, relevant documents will be taken,” said an official from the MA&UD department.

“Allotment of houses will be done based on a field survey report of the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL),” said MA&UD principal secretary Dana Kishore who is also the managing director of MRDCL. The 15,000 households were identified on the river bed and buffer zone after a field-level survey by the MRDCL.

According to officials, all these households belong to economically weaker sections. Following the identification, the MRDCL requested the state government to allot 2BHK houses to them in the GHMC area. It also sought Telangana Housing Corporation Limited to do the same favour for the affected people outside the GHMC area. “Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed the officials to execute the process peacefully. Every two teams will be monitored by one deputy collector,” said an official from the revenue department.
