Mystery shrouds death of 13-yr-old student in city school hostel
Hyderabad: A 13-year-old student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the hostel room (a day after moving in) of Sri Chaitanya School’s Kompally campus. The deceased, identified as Mallikarjuna, a student of standard VII, had reportedly gone to bed after having dinner with his fellow students but did not wake up the next morning.
He belonged to Chilvera village in Medak district. He had taken admission in Class VII on June 24 and was staying at the school’s K4 Campus.
According to police, when the hostel staffers found him unresponsive on Tuesday, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The boy’s parents Madhavi and Beerappa, said, “He was our elder son. We dropped him off yesterday, and he spoke well with us. He was very active, intelligent, smart and always excelled in his studies. This has shattered us.”
Meanwhile, Ramesh Reddy, one of the school authorities, said, “He was very healthy when we last saw him. He had food with his batchmates and was active. We came to know about the incident when our staffers tried to wake him up in the morning. When he didn’t respond, we rushed him to a hospital, where doctors confirmed that he had already passed away.”
Inspector K. Vijay Vardhan told Deccan Chronicle, “The preliminary investigation suggests that he died of cardiac arrest. However, we are waiting for the post-mortem report to know the actual cause of death. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.”
