Nagarjunasagar Canal: Agricultural labourer dies, 10 injured in road mishap
The tractor lost control due to overspeeding and overturned on a curved road near the canal
Khammam: An agricultural labourer was killed and 10 others injured when a tractor overturned near the Nagarjunasagar canal in Bonakal.
The deceased, identified as Yarlagadda Varamma (60) from Bonakal, died on the spot. The accident took place as a group of 20 labourers was travelling from Bonakal to Lingala for mirchi cutting work. The injured were initially treated at a nearby hospital before being shifted to the Government Hospital in Khammam for better medical care.
According to police, the tractor lost control due to overspeeding and overturned on a curved road near the canal. Expressing grief over the incident, revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy extended condolences to Varamma’s family. He also directed the superintendent of Khammam Government Hospital to ensure proper treatment for the injured labourers.
