Nagarjuna Sagar-Srisailam cruise resumes after 5 years
Nalgonda: After five years, the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TGTDC) on Saturday resumed cruise tour of the Nagarjunasagar-Srisaliam in the Krishna river.
The cruise tour was suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic and low level of water in the project.
With 100 tourists, the ‘Phalguni’ launch was started from the station near Vijaya Vihar. Nandikonda municipal chairman Tirumalakonda Annpurna flagged off the service.
The 120-km cruise passes through Eleshwaram, Saleshwaram, eastern ghats and Nallamalla forest.
The six-hour journey on the waters of the Krishna river gives tourists a view of the beauty of nature and a feel of the peace of the forests. At certain times, some tourists can spot different birds and animals in the nallamalla forest who come to the river for drinking water.
The TGTDC officials said the cruise tour package would continue until the water level at the Nagarjunasagar comes down to 577 feet. Water presently stands at 588.5 feet. The cruises would be conducted every Saturday.
