Nalgonda: Government Whip and Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham drew attention by riding a cycle rickshaw during May Day celebrations in Nakrekal, Nalgonda district, on Friday.
He rode the rickshaw for about 1.5 km from his camp office to the Indira Gandhi statue centre, where trade unions organised the celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, he said the state government was prioritising the welfare of workers in both organised and unorganised sectors. He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had recently resolved issues concerning TGSRTC workers and reaffirmed workers’ rights to form unions and go on strike.

Listing welfare measures, he said 1,000 Indiramma houses would be sanctioned to the Nakrekal constituency in the second phase. He also referred to issuance of new ration cards, supply of fine rice, free electricity up to 200 units for poor households and free travel for women in TGSRTC buses. He appealed to the public to support the government for effective implementation of its welfare schemes.
