Nalgonda: Nalgonda district police rescued 10 persons of the Chenchu tribe who were stranded on the Dudumbi stream at Gollanaboina in Nallamala forest on Monday night. The Chenchus, who belong to Deyyamgundla of Dindi mandal, went into the forest to collect honey on Monday afternoon. They were stranded when the stream suddenly started overflowing due to the heavy rain.
As police got the information about them at 6 pm on Monday, district superintendent of police Sharth Chandra Pawar launched a rescue operation with the help of the Devarakonda police. The police used drone cameras at night to locate the Chenchus. “Due to high flood during the night, the victims were rescued by ropes with the help of Nagarkurnool police," said SP Chandra. The rescued Chenchus have been shifted to the native village of Deyyamgundla.
DGP Dr Jitender appreciated the bravery and dedication of the police who particiapted in this operation. “Your courage is a beacon of hope and strength. A heartfelt appreciation to Nalgonda SP Sharat Chandra Pawar, Nagarkurnool SP Vaibhav Gaikwad, Devarakonda DSP and CIs of Dindi and Achampet for their exemplary leadership and support in this rescue mission,” Jitender said in a press release.
