Hyderabad:The Nampally court granted bail to T. Vamshi Krishna, accused in a phone-tapping case registered by the Panjagutta police.

He had been arrested on February 15.

Krishna had alleged police harassment and coercion. The court on February 17 allowed his counsel Lakshman to record his version. Counsel recorded Vamshi’s statement in jail and filed it before the magistrate.

Krishna, in his affidavit, claimed that police officers had pressured him to falsely name former minister Harish Rao and one Macha Venugopal, in connection with the case.

According to the affidavit, officers took his signature on documents without informing him about the case details or allowing him to consult his advocate. Vamshi alleged that he was detained late into the night and that his young children suffered due to the situation.

The affidavit also stated that Vamsi had health issues, including liver problems.

His family members stated that they were harassed, with police pasting notices outside their rented house. They claimed that Vamshi was being framed for a crime he did not commit.

The Telangana High Court had earlier directed the Panjagutta police to not summon Krishna at odd hours without proper notice. It had said that any further questioning could occur between 10 am and 5 pm.
