NCC Must Reach Rural Areas: Retiring Deputy DG
Recognising his contributions, senior officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force honoured Air Cmdre Reddy with mementos. The Director General of NCC also commended his efforts, presenting him with a commemorative plaque in New Delhi as a token of appreciation.

Hyderabad: Air Commodore V. Madhusudhan Reddy, who stepped down as the Deputy Director General of the NCC Directorate (Andhra Pradesh & Telangana) on Friday, pledged to raise awareness about the importance of the National Cadet Corps. He said the NCC must be expanded to rural areas to ensure more young people benefit from its training.
Air Cmdre Reddy officially handed over the charge to Colonel Sameer Sharma. Having served in the Indian Air Force since 1989, Ar Cmdre Reddy took charge of the NCC Directorate in July 2023 and played a key role in enhancing its outreach and training programmes.
Under his leadership, the directorate moved up from the 16th to the fourth place at the Republic Day Camp 2025. Reflecting on his tenure, Air Cmdre Reddy said, “Serving with the NCC has been a deeply fulfilling journey. The dedication and talent of our cadets inspire hope and confidence in the future of our nation.”
During his tenure, several reforms were introduced, including improvements in training standards, syllabus updates, and a greater focus on personality development. Identifying organisational shortcomings, Air Cmdre Reddy worked to strengthen the NCC’s structure and effectiveness. “The challenges were many, but the results show our efforts were worthwhile,” he said.
Air Cmdre Reddy emphasised the importance of reaching students in remote regions, helping them develop discipline, leadership and patriotism. He also reminded cadets that completing NCC training provides an advantage in recruitment for the armed forces, the Agniveer programme and central government jobs.
