Hyderabad: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) declared the result for the NEET-PG late on Friday night. About 9,000 PG aspirants from Telangana appeared for the exam this year. The results are available on the NBEMS website — natboard.edu.in.
The exam that was conducted on August 11 after being rescheduled multiple times, in two shifts. It was stated that the exam was more difficult than in the previous years, and the second shift question paper were tougher than the one for the morning exam.
"The normalisation process has helped second shift candidates secure better ranks," said Dr Gadapa Sriram, who appeared for the exam this year. "I have secured 39,000th all-India rank with 520 marks. In previous years, those with above 500 marks could get ranks between 13,000-15,000. This year, many toppers have also not got better ranks," he added.
Dr Sai Thrinath, another candidate and a senior of Dr Sriram's, also appeared for the INI CET 2024 exam and secured 1500th rank. His NEET-PG rank is 3,000.
NBEMS has stated that there will be no re-evaluation, rechecking, or re-totaling of the responses marked by candidates. From this year onward, the cut-off marks will not be considered for allocation of seats. Students also said that a number of people getting same marks is also more this year.
To break the tie, the NBEMS has laid down the criteria: the candidate having a greater number of correct responses in the question paper will be given preference, followed by those with least number of wrong answers. Further, ages of the candidates and then their MBBS professional examination papers marks will be checked.
Candidates are now waiting for the state counseling process to begin, hoping to get better ranks and secure seats in state’s prestigious medical colleges.
